Common Sources Of Foot Pain
Common sources of foot pain can sometimes be the worst, like for example a Bunion. Some injuries like a Bunion are very annoying and painful and you might want to know what it is so I am going to tell you starting off with a Bunion.
BUNION
A Bunion is a source of foot pain where the big toe is pointing inwards toward the other toes and there is a bump on the inner side of the foot, a bunion can get inflamed and look a bit like you have dislocated your toe it also gets very red. What bone/bones make the Bunion? The bones that form the bunion are the Metatarsophalangeal joints and the big toe a Metatarsophalangeal joint is just another word for the joining part of the Metatarsal bone and the big toe (Phalange). The Metatarsal Bone turns outwards and the Big toe turns inwards causing the metatarsal bone to pop out .
It would be best to reduce swelling with an ice pack and seek treatment from your Physiotherapist and/or Doctor to prevent it from getting worse and to get some advice on what you should do next time this injury occurs and how to stop it from coming up again and again.
HEEL SPURS
Heel spurs are another common injury which happen when a bony growth attached to your heel bone (calcaneus) grows into your foot arch. The heel spur would most likely be hurting either on the calcaneus or the tendons running under the arch and around heel. You will know when you are getting heel spurs when you start to feel heel pain in the morning or after resting like Muscle strain.
MUSCLE STRAIN
Muscle strain sometimes really hurts when you start to move after resting as-well, although it may not hurt while you were in the process of doing the sport or activity that caused the injury.
SPRAINED ANKLE
One of the most common injuries of all is a sprained ankle, how do you get a sprained ankle? Well when you twist your ankle and it starts to turn swollen it is most likely to be sprained. What does the sprain actually do? When you sprain your ankle you have probably torn or stretched a or even a few ligaments.
ADVICE
For all of these common injuries I have shown you, you would usually be advised to ice it and decrease the inflamed spot by using anti-inflammatries like voltaren or any other creams that are similar. After you have tried this please get advice from your Physiotherapist or doctor for further instructions.
